RS485 NXT-G Block

RS485 is is a way of two NXT bricks communicating through their Sensor Port 4 with a normal cable that you can find in any NXT set. It has many advantages over Bluetooth such as significantly faster communication speeds and reduced impact on battery life, and removes the need to bother with pairing devices or using different mailboxes.

Previously, RS485 has only been available in third party programming languages such as NXC and LeJOS NXJ. However, recently Andy Milluzaj has created a RS485 block for NXT-G.

You can download a modified version of this block with new icons created by haydenstudios, or you can get the original version from Xander’s BlogYou can read more about it at the Mindboards Forums.
